Luke 20

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA
1 Now it happened that one day while he was teaching the people in the Temple and proclaiming thegood news, the chief priests and the scribes came up, together with the elders,	1 Un giorno, mentre istruiva il popolo nel tempio e annunziava la parola di Dio, si avvicinarono i sommi sacerdoti e gli scribi con gli anziani e si rivolsero a lui dicendo:
2 and spoke to him. 'Tel us,' they said, 'what authority have you for acting like this? Or who gives youthis authority?'	2 "Dicci con quale autorità fai queste cose o chi è che t'ha dato quest'autorità".
3 In reply he said to them, 'And I will ask you a question, just one. Tel me:	3 E Gesù disse loro: "Vi farò anch'io una domanda e voi rispondetemi:
4 John's baptism: what was its origin, heavenly or human?'	4 Il battesimo di Giovanni veniva dal Cielo o dagli uomini?".
5 And they debated this way among themselves, 'If we say heavenly, he will retort, "Why did you refuseto believe him?";	5 Allora essi discutevano fra loro: "Se diciamo "dal Cielo", risponderà: "Perché non gli avete creduto?".
6 and if we say human, the whole people wil stone us, for they are convinced that John was a prophet.'	6 E se diciamo "dagli uomini", tutto il popolo ci lapiderà, perché è convinto che Giovanni è un profeta".
7 So their reply was that they did not know where it came from.	7 Risposero quindi di non saperlo.
8 And Jesus said to them, 'Nor wil I tell you my authority for acting like this.'	8 E Gesù disse loro: "Nemmeno io vi dico con quale autorità faccio queste cose".
9 And he went on to tel the people this parable, 'A man planted a vineyard and leased it to tenants, andwent abroad for a long while.	9 Poi cominciò a dire al popolo questa parabola: "Un uomo 'piantò una vigna', l'affidò a dei coltivatori e se ne andò lontano per molto tempo.
10 When the right time came, he sent a servant to the tenants to get his share of the produce of thevineyard. But the tenants thrashed him, and sent him away empty-handed.	10 A suo tempo, mandò un servo da quei coltivatori perché gli dessero una parte del raccolto della vigna. Ma i coltivatori lo percossero e lo rimandarono a mani vuote.
11 But he went on to send a second servant; they thrashed him too and treated him shamefully and senthim away empty-handed.	11 Mandò un altro servo, ma essi percossero anche questo, lo insultarono e lo rimandarono a mani vuote.
12 He still went on to send a third; they wounded this one too, and threw him out.	12 Ne mandò ancora un terzo, ma anche questo lo ferirono e lo cacciarono.
13 Then the owner of the vineyard thought, "What am I to do? I wil send them my own beloved son.Perhaps they wil respect him."	13 Disse allora il padrone della vigna: Che devo fare? Manderò il mio unico figlio; forse di lui avranno rispetto.
14 But when the tenants saw him they put their heads together saying, "This is the heir, let us kil him sothat the inheritance wil be ours."	14 Quando lo videro, i coltivatori discutevano fra loro dicendo: Costui è l'erede. Uccidiamolo e così l'eredità sarà nostra.
15 So they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. 'Now what wil the owner of the vineyard do tothem?	15 E lo cacciarono fuori della vigna e l'uccisero. Che cosa farà dunque a costoro il padrone della vigna?
16 He wil come and make an end of these tenants and give the vineyard to others.' Hearing this theysaid, 'God forbid!'	16 Verrà e manderà a morte quei coltivatori, e affiderà ad altri la vigna". Ma essi, udito ciò, esclamarono: "Non sia mai!".
17 But he looked hard at them and said, 'Then what does this text in the scriptures mean: The stonewhich the builders rejected has become the cornerstone?	17 Allora egli si volse verso di loro e disse: "Che cos'è dunque ciò che è scritto: 'La pietra che i costruttori hanno scartata, è diventata testata d'angolo'?
18 Anyone who fal s on that stone will be dashed to pieces; anyone it fal s on wil be crushed.'	18 Chiunque cadrà su quella pietra si sfracellerà e a chi cadrà addosso, lo stritolerà".
19 And the scribes and the chief priests would have liked to lay hands on him that very moment,because they realised that this parable was aimed at them, but they were afraid of the people.	19 Gli scribi e i sommi sacerdoti cercarono allora di mettergli addosso le mani, ma ebbero paura del popolo. Avevano capito che quella parabola l'aveva detta per loro.
20 So they awaited their opportunity and sent agents to pose as upright men, and to catch him out insomething he might say and so enable them to hand him over to the jurisdiction and authority of the governor.	20 Postisi in osservazione, mandarono informatori, che si fingessero persone oneste, per coglierlo in fallo nelle sue parole e poi consegnarlo all'autorità e al potere del governatore.
21 They put to him this question, 'Master, we know that you say and teach what is right; you favour noone, but teach the way of God in al honesty.	21 Costoro lo interrogarono: "Maestro, sappiamo che parli e insegni con rettitudine e non guardi in faccia a nessuno, ma insegni secondo verità la via di Dio.
22 Is it permissible for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?'	22 È lecito che noi paghiamo il tributo a Cesare?".
23 But he was aware of their cunning and said,	23 Conoscendo la loro malizia, disse:
24 'Show me a denarius. Whose portrait and title are on it?' They said, 'Caesar's.'	24 "Mostratemi un denaro: di chi è l'immagine e l'iscrizione?". Risposero: "Di Cesare".
25 He said to them, 'Well then, pay Caesar what belongs to Caesar -- and God what belongs to God.'	25 Ed egli disse: "Rendete dunque a Cesare ciò che è di Cesare e a Dio ciò che è di Dio".
26 They were unable to catch him out in anything he had to say in public; they were amazed at hisanswer and were silenced.	26 Così non poterono coglierlo in fallo davanti al popolo e, meravigliati della sua risposta, tacquero.
27 Some Sadducees -- those who argue that there is no resurrection -- approached him and they putthis question to him,	27 Gli si avvicinarono poi alcuni sadducei, i quali negano che vi sia la risurrezione, e gli posero questa domanda:
28 'Master, Moses prescribed for us, if a man's married brother dies childless, the man must marry thewidow to raise up children for his brother.	28 "Maestro, Mosè ci ha prescritto: Se a qualcuno muore un fratello che ha moglie, ma senza figli, suo fratello si prenda la vedova e dia una discendenza al proprio fratello.
29 Wel then, there were seven brothers; the first, having married a wife, died childless.	29 C'erano dunque sette fratelli: il primo, dopo aver preso moglie, morì senza figli.
30 The second	30 Allora la prese il secondo
31 and then the third married the widow. And the same with al seven, they died leaving no children.	31 e poi il terzo e così tutti e sette; e morirono tutti senza lasciare figli.
32 Finally the woman herself died.	32 Da ultimo anche la donna morì.
33 Now, at the resurrection, whose wife will she be, since she had been married to all seven?'	33 Questa donna dunque, nella risurrezione, di chi sarà moglie? Poiché tutti e sette l'hanno avuta in moglie".
34 Jesus replied, 'The children of this world take wives and husbands,	34 Gesù rispose: "I figli di questo mondo prendono moglie e prendono marito;
35 but those who are judged worthy of a place in the other world and in the resurrection from the deaddo not marry	35 ma quelli che sono giudicati degni dell'altro mondo e della risurrezione dai morti, non prendono moglie né marito;
36 because they can no longer die, for they are the same as the angels, and being children of theresurrection they are children of God.	36 e nemmeno possono più morire, perché sono uguali agli angeli e, essendo figli della risurrezione, sono figli di Dio.
37 And Moses himself implies that the dead rise again, in the passage about the bush where he cal s theLord the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.	37 Che poi i morti risorgono, lo ha indicato anche Mosè a proposito del roveto, quando chiama il Signore: 'Dio di Abramo, Dio di Isacco e Dio di Giacobbe'.
38 Now he is God, not of the dead, but of the living; for to him everyone is alive.'	38 Dio non è Dio dei morti, ma dei vivi; perché tutti vivono per lui".
39 Some scribes then spoke up. They said, 'Wel put, Master.'	39 Dissero allora alcuni scribi: "Maestro, hai parlato bene".
40 They did not dare to ask him any more questions.	40 E non osavano più fargli alcuna domanda.
41 He then said to them, 'How can people maintain that the Christ is son of David?	41 Egli poi disse loro: "Come mai dicono che il Cristo è figlio di Davide,
42 Why, David himself says in the Book of Psalms: The Lord declared to my Lord, take your seat at myright hand,	42 se Davide stesso nel libro dei Salmi dice: 'Ha detto il Signore al mio Signore: siedi alla mia destra,'
43 til I have made your enemies your footstool.	43 'finché io ponga i tuoi nemici come sgabello ai tuoi piedi?'
44 David here cal s him Lord; how then can he be his son?'	44 Davide dunque lo chiama Signore; perciò come può essere suo figlio?".
45 While al the people were listening he said to the disciples,	45 E mentre tutto il popolo ascoltava, disse ai discepoli:
46 'Beware of the scribes who like to walk about in long robes and love to be greeted respectfully in themarket squares, to take the front seats in the synagogues and the places of honour at banquets,	46 "Guardatevi dagli scribi che amano passeggiare in lunghe vesti e hanno piacere di esser salutati nelle piazze, avere i primi seggi nelle sinagoghe e i primi posti nei conviti;
47 who devour the property of widows, and for show offer long prayers. The more severe will be thesentence they receive.'	47 divorano le case delle vedove, e in apparenza fanno lunghe preghiere. Essi riceveranno una condanna più severa".
