NEW JERUSALEMBIBBIA
1 Disaster to the rebel ious, the befouled, the tyrannical city!1 Guai alla città ribelle e contaminata,
alla città prepotente!
2 She has not listened to the cal , she has not bowed to correction, she has not trusted in Yahweh, shehas not drawn near to her God.2 Non ha ascoltato la voce,
non ha accettato la correzione.
Non ha confidato nel Signore,
non si è rivolta al suo Dio.
3 The rulers she has are roaring lions, her judges are wolves of the wastelands which leave nothing overfor the morning,3 I suoi capi in mezzo ad essa
sono leoni ruggenti,
i suoi giudici sono lupi della sera,
che non hanno rosicchiato dal mattino.
4 her prophets are braggarts, impostors, her priests have profaned what is holy and violated the Law.4 I suoi profeti sono boriosi,
uomini fraudolenti.
I suoi sacerdoti profanano le cose sacre,
violano la legge.
5 Yahweh the Upright is in her, he does no wrong; morning by morning he gives judgement, each dawnunfailingly (but the wrong-doer knows no shame).5 In mezzo ad essa il Signore è giusto,
non commette iniquità;

6 I have exterminated the nations, their corner-towers lie in ruins; I have emptied their streets, no onewalks through them; their cities have been destroyed and are now deserted and unpeopled.6 Ho sterminato le nazioni,
le loro torri d'angolo sono state distrutte;
ho reso deserte le loro strade
sì che non c'è alcun passante;
sono state depredate le loro città
e nessuno più le abita.
7 I thought, 'At least you wil fear me, at least you wil bow to correction,' and none of the punishments Ibrought on them will disappear from their view. But no, it only made them more anxious to do whatever wascorrupt.7 Io pensavo: "Almeno ora mi temerà!
Accoglierà la correzione.
Non si cancelleranno dai suoi occhi
tutte le punizioni che le ho inflitte".
Ma invece si sono affrettati
a pervertire di nuovo ogni loro azione.
8 So wait for me -- declares Yahweh -- for the day when I rise as accuser, for I am determined to gatherthe nations, to assemble the kingdoms, and on you to vent my fury, the whole heat of my anger (for the wholeearth will be devoured by the fire of my jealousy).8 Perciò aspettatemi - parola del Signore -

9 Yes, then I shall purge the lips of the peoples, so that all may invoke the name of Yahweh and servehim shoulder to shoulder.9 Allora io darò ai popoli un labbro puro
perché invochino tutti il nome del Signore
e lo servano tutti sotto lo stesso giogo.
10 From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia, my suppliants will bring me tribute.10 Da oltre i fiumi di Etiopia
fino all'estremo settentrione,
i miei supplicanti mi porteranno offerte.

11 When that Day comes you wil never again be ashamed of al the deeds with which you once rebelledagainst me, for I shal rid you of those who exult in your pride; never again wil you strut on my holy mountain.11 In quel giorno non avrai vergogna
di tutti i misfatti commessi contro di me,
perché allora eliminerò da te
tutti i superbi millantatori
e tu cesserai di inorgoglirti
sopra il mio santo monte.
12 But in you I shal leave surviving a humble and lowly people,12 Farò restare in mezzo a te
un popolo umile e povero;
confiderà nel nome del Signore
13 and those who are left in Israel wil take refuge in the name of Yahweh. They will do no wrong, wil tellno lies; nor wil a deceitful tongue be found in their mouths. But they will be able to graze and rest with no one toalarm them.13 il resto d'Israele.
Non commetteranno più iniquità
e non proferiranno menzogna;
non si troverà più nella loro bocca
una lingua fraudolenta.
Potranno pascolare e riposare
senza che alcuno li molesti.

14 Shout for joy, daughter of Zion, Israel, shout aloud! Rejoice, exult with al your heart, daughter ofJerusalem!14 Gioisci, figlia di Sion,
esulta, Israele,
e rallegrati con tutto il cuore,
figlia di Gerusalemme!
15 Yahweh has repealed your sentence; he has turned your enemy away. Yahweh is king among you,Israel, you have nothing more to fear.15 Il Signore ha revocato la tua condanna,
ha disperso il tuo nemico.
Re d'Israele è il Signore in mezzo a te,
tu non vedrai più la sventura.
16 When that Day comes, the message for Jerusalem wil be: Zion, have no fear, do not let your handsfal limp.16 In quel giorno si dirà a Gerusalemme:
"Non temere, Sion, non lasciarti cadere le braccia!
17 Yahweh your God is there with you, the warrior-Saviour. He will rejoice over you with happy song, hewil renew you by his love, he will dance with shouts of joy for you,17 Il Signore tuo Dio in mezzo a te
18 as on a day of festival. I have taken away your misfortune, no longer need you bear the disgrace of it.18 come nei giorni di festa".

19 I am taking action here and now against your oppressors. When that time comes I wil rescue thelame, and gather the strays, and I wil win them praise and renown when I restore their fortunes.19 Ecco, in quel tempo io sterminerò
tutti i tuoi oppressori.
Soccorrerò gli zoppicanti, radunerò i dispersi,
li porrò in lode e fama
20 At that time I shal be your guide, at the time when I gather you in, I shall give you praise and renownamong all the peoples of the earth when I restore your fortunes under your own eyes, declares Yahweh.20 In quel tempo io vi guiderò,
in quel tempo vi radunerò
e vi darò fama e lode
fra tutti i popoli della terra,
quando, davanti ai vostri occhi,
ristabilirò le vostre sorti, dice il Signore.
