NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA
1 Miriam, and Aaron too, criticised Moses over the Cushite woman he had married. He had indeedmarried a Cushite woman.	1 Maria e Aronne parlarono contro Mosè a causa della donna etiope che aveva sposata; infatti aveva sposato una Etiope.
2 They said, 'Is Moses the only one through whom Yahweh has spoken? Has he not spoken through ustoo?' Yahweh heard this.	2 Dissero: "Il Signore ha forse parlato soltanto per mezzo di Mosè? Non ha parlato anche per mezzo nostro?". Il Signore udì.
3 Now Moses was extremely humble, the humblest man on earth.	3 Ora Mosè era molto più mansueto di ogni uomo che è sulla terra.
4 Suddenly Yahweh said to Moses, Aaron and Miriam, 'Come out, al three of you, to the Tent ofMeeting.' They went, al three of them,	4 Il Signore disse subito a Mosè, ad Aronne e a Maria: "Uscite tutti e tre e andate alla tenda del convegno". Uscirono tutti e tre.
5 and Yahweh descended in a pillar of cloud and stood at the entrance of the Tent. He cal ed Aaronand Miriam and they both came forward.	5 Il Signore allora scese in una colonna di nube, si fermò all'ingresso della tenda e chiamò Aronne e Maria. I due si fecero avanti.
6 Yahweh said: Listen to my words! if there is a prophet among you, I reveal myself to him in a vision, I speak to him in a dream.	6 Il Signore disse: "Ascoltate le mie parole! Se ci sarà un vostro profeta, io, il Signore, in visione a lui mi rivelerò, in sogno parlerò con lui.
7 Not so with my servant Moses; to him my whole household is entrusted;	7 Non così per il mio servo Mosè: egli è l'uomo di fiducia in tutta la mia casa.
8 to him I speak face to face, plainly and not in riddles, and he sees Yahweh's form. How, then, couldyou dare to criticise my servant Moses?	8 Bocca a bocca parlo con lui, in visione e non con enigmi ed egli guarda l'immagine del Signore. Perché non avete temuto di parlare contro il mio servo Mosè?".
9 Yahweh's anger was aroused by them. He went away,	9 L'ira del Signore si accese contro di loro ed Egli se ne andò;
10 and as soon as the cloud left the Tent, there was Miriam covered with a virulent skin-disease, whiteas snow! Aaron turned to look at her and saw that she had contracted a virulent skin-disease.	10 la nuvola si ritirò di sopra alla tenda ed ecco Maria era lebbrosa, bianca come neve; Aronne guardò Maria ed ecco era lebbrosa.
11 Aaron said to Moses: 'Oh, my Lord, please do not punish us for the sin we have been foolishenough to commit.	11 Aronne disse a Mosè: "Signor mio, non addossarci la pena del peccato che abbiamo stoltamente commesso,
12 Do not let her be like some monster with its flesh half eaten away when it leaves its mother's womb!'	12 essa non sia come il bambino nato morto, la cui carne è già mezzo consumata quando esce dal seno della madre".
13 Moses pleaded with Yahweh. 'O God,' he said, 'I beg you, please heal her!'	13 Mosè gridò al Signore: "Guariscila, Dio!".
14 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'If her father had done no more than spit in her face, would she not beunclean for seven days? Have her shut out of the camp for seven days, and then have her brought in again.'	14 Il Signore rispose a Mosè: "Se suo padre le avesse sputato in viso, non ne porterebbe essa vergogna per sette giorni? Stia dunque isolata fuori dell'accampamento sette giorni; poi vi sarà di nuovo ammessa".
15 Miriam was shut out of the camp for seven days. The people did not set out until she returned.	15 Maria dunque rimase isolata, fuori dell'accampamento sette giorni; il popolo non riprese il cammino, finché Maria non fu riammessa nell'accampamento.
16 Then the people moved on from Hazeroth and pitched camp in the desert of Paran.	16 Poi il popolo partì da Caserot e si accampò nel deserto di Paran.
