Proverbs 27

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA
1 Do not congratulate yourself about tomorrow, since you do not know what today wil bring forth.	1 Non ti vantare del domani, perché non sai neppure che cosa genera l'oggi.
2 Let someone else sing your praises, but not your own mouth, a stranger, but not your own lips.	2 Ti lodi un altro e non la tua bocca, un estraneo e non le tue labbra.
3 Heavy is the stone, weighty is the sand; heavier than both -- a grudge borne by a fool.	3 La pietra è greve, la sabbia è pesante, ma più dell'una e dell'altra lo è il fastidio dello stolto.
4 Cruel is wrath, overwhelming is anger; but jealousy, who can withstand that?	4 La collera è crudele, l'ira è impetuosa; ma chi può resistere alla gelosia?
5 Better open reproof than feigned love.	5 Meglio un rimprovero aperto che un amore celato.
6 Trustworthy are blows from a friend, deceitful are kisses from a foe.	6 Leali sono le ferite di un amico, fallaci i baci di un nemico.
7 The gorged throat revolts at honey, the hungry throat finds al bitterness sweet.	7 Gola sazia disprezza il miele; per chi ha fame anche l'amaro è dolce.
8 Like a bird that strays from its nest, so is anyone who strays away from home.	8 Come un uccello che vola lontano dal nido così è l'uomo che va errando lontano dalla dimora.
9 Oil and perfume gladden the heart, and the sweetness of friendship rather than self-reliance.	9 Il profumo e l'incenso allietano il cuore, la dolcezza di un amico rassicura l'anima.
10 Do not give up your friend or your father's friend; when trouble comes, do not go off to your brother'shouse, better a near neighbour than a distant brother.	10 Non abbandonare il tuo amico né quello di tuo padre, non entrare nella casa di tuo fratello nel giorno della tua disgrazia. Meglio un amico vicino che un fratello lontano.
11 Learn to be wise, my child, and gladden my heart, that I may have an answer for anyone who insultsme.	11 Sii saggio, figlio mio, e allieterai il mio cuore e avrò di che rispondere a colui che mi insulta.
12 The discreet sees danger and takes shelter, simpletons go ahead and pay the penalty.	12 L'accorto vede il pericolo e si nasconde, gli inesperti vanno avanti e la pagano.
13 Take the man's clothes! He has gone surety for a stranger. Take a pledge from him, for personsunknown.	13 Prendigli il vestito perché si è fatto garante per uno straniero e tienilo in pegno per gli sconosciuti.
14 Whoever at dawn loudly blesses his neighbour -- it will be reckoned to him as a curse.	14 Benedire il prossimo di buon mattino ad alta voce gli sarà imputato come una maledizione.
15 The dripping of a gutter on a rainy day and a quarrelsome woman are alike;	15 Il gocciolar continuo in tempo di pioggia e una moglie litigiosa, si rassomigliano:
16 whoever can restrain her, can restrain the wind, and take a firm hold on grease.	16 chi la vuol trattenere, trattiene il vento e raccoglie l'olio con la mano destra.
17 Iron is sharpened by iron, one person is sharpened by contact with another.	17 Il ferro si aguzza con il ferro e l'uomo aguzza l'ingegno del suo compagno.
18 Whoever tends the fig tree eats its figs, whoever looks after his master wil be honoured.	18 Il guardiano di un fico ne mangia i frutti, chi ha cura del suo padrone ne riceverà onori.
19 As water reflects face back to face, so one human heart reflects another.	19 Come un volto differisce da un altro, così i cuori degli uomini differiscono fra di loro.
20 Sheol and Perdition are never satisfied, insatiable, too, are human eyes.	20 Come gli inferi e l'abisso non si saziano mai, così non si saziano mai gli occhi dell'uomo.
21 A furnace for silver, a foundry for gold: a person is worth what his reputation is worth.	21 Come il crogiuolo è per l'argento e il fornello per l'oro, così l'uomo rispetto alla bocca di chi lo loda.
22 Pound a fool in a mortar, among grain with a pestle, his fol y wil not leave him.	22 Anche se tu pestassi lo stolto nel mortaio tra i grani con il pestello, non scuoteresti da lui la sua stoltezza.
23 Know your flocks' condition well, take good care of your herds;	23 Preòccupati del tuo gregge, abbi cura delle tue mandrie,
24 for riches do not last for ever, crowns do not hand themselves on from age to age.	24 perché non sono perenni le ricchezze, né un tesoro si trasmette di generazione in generazione.
25 The grass once gone, the aftergrowth appearing, the hay gathered in from the mountains,	25 Si toglie il fieno, apparisce l'erba nuova e si raccolgono i foraggi dei monti;
26 you should have lambs to clothe you, goats to buy you a field,	26 gli agnelli ti danno le vesti e i capretti il prezzo per comprare un campo,
27 goat's milk sufficient to feed you, to feed your household and provide for your serving girls.	27 le capre latte abbondante per il cibo e per vitto della tua famiglia. e per mantenere le tue schiave.
