2 I am sinking in the deepest swamp and there is no firm ground. I have stepped into deep water andthe waves are washing over me.	2 Salvami, o Dio: l'acqua mi giunge alla gola.
3 I am exhausted with cal ing out, my throat is hoarse, my eyes are worn out with searching for my God.	3 Affondo nel fango e non ho sostegno; sono caduto in acque profonde e l'onda mi travolge.
4 More numerous than the hairs of my head are those who hate me without reason. Those who seek toget rid of me are powerful, my treacherous enemies. (Must I give back what I have never stolen?)	4 Sono sfinito dal gridare, riarse sono le mie fauci; i miei occhi si consumano nell'attesa del mio Dio.
5 God, you know how foolish I am, my offences are not hidden from you.	5 Più numerosi dei capelli del mio capo sono coloro che mi odiano senza ragione. Sono potenti i nemici che mi calunniano: quanto non ho rubato, lo dovrei restituire?
6 Those who hope in you must not be made fools of, Yahweh Sabaoth, because of me! Those who seekyou must not be disgraced, God of Israel, because of me!	6 Dio, tu conosci la mia stoltezza e le mie colpe non ti sono nascoste.
7 It is for you I bear insults, my face is covered with shame,	7 Chi spera in te, a causa mia non sia confuso, Signore, Dio degli eserciti; per me non si vergogni chi ti cerca, Dio d'Israele.
8 I am estranged from my brothers, alienated from my own mother's sons;	8 Per te io sopporto l'insulto e la vergogna mi copre la faccia;
9 for I am eaten up with zeal for your house, and insults directed against you fall on me.	9 sono un estraneo per i miei fratelli, un forestiero per i figli di mia madre.
10 I mortify myself with fasting, and find myself insulted for it,	10 Poiché mi divora lo zelo per la tua casa, ricadono su di me gli oltraggi di chi ti insulta.
11 I dress myself in sackcloth and become their laughing-stock,	11 Mi sono estenuato nel digiuno ed è stata per me un'infamia.
12 the gossip of people sitting at the gate, and the theme of drunkards' songs.	12 Ho indossato come vestito un sacco e sono diventato il loro scherno.
13 And so, I pray to you, Yahweh, at the time of your favour; in your faithful love answer me, in theconstancy of your saving power.	13 Sparlavano di me quanti sedevano alla porta, gli ubriachi mi dileggiavano.
14 Rescue me from the mire before I sink in; so I shal be saved from those who hate me, from thewatery depths.	14 Ma io innalzo a te la mia preghiera, Signore, nel tempo della benevolenza; per la grandezza della tua bontà, rispondimi, per la fedeltà della tua salvezza, o Dio.
15 Let not the waves wash over me, nor the deep swal ow me up, nor the pit close its mouth on me.	15 Salvami dal fango, che io non affondi, liberami dai miei nemici e dalle acque profonde.
16 Answer me, Yahweh, for your faithful love is generous; in your tenderness turn towards me;	16 Non mi sommergano i flutti delle acque e il vortice non mi travolga, l'abisso non chiuda su di me la sua bocca.
17 do not turn away from your servant, be quick to answer me, for I am in trouble.	17 Rispondimi, Signore, benefica è la tua grazia; volgiti a me nella tua grande tenerezza.
18 Come to my side, redeem me, ransom me because of my enemies.	18 Non nascondere il volto al tuo servo, sono in pericolo: presto, rispondimi.
19 You know well the insults, the shame and disgrace I endure. Every one of my oppressors is known toyou.	19 Avvicinati a me, riscattami, salvami dai miei nemici.
20 Insult has broken my heart past cure. I hoped for sympathy, but in vain, for consolers -- not one to befound.	20 Tu conosci la mia infamia, la mia vergogna e il mio disonore; davanti a te sono tutti i miei nemici.
21 To eat they gave me poison, to drink, vinegar when I was thirsty.	21 L'insulto ha spezzato il mio cuore e vengo meno. Ho atteso compassione, ma invano, consolatori, ma non ne ho trovati.
22 May their own table prove a trap for them, and their abundance a snare;	22 Hanno messo nel mio cibo veleno e quando avevo sete mi hanno dato aceto.
23 may their eyes grow so dim that they cannot see, al their muscles lose their strength.	23 La loro tavola sia per essi un laccio, una insidia i loro banchetti.
24 Vent your fury on them, let your burning anger overtake them.	24 Si offuschino i loro occhi, non vedano; sfibra per sempre i loro fianchi.
25 Reduce their encampment to ruin, and leave their tents untenanted,	25 Riversa su di loro il tuo sdegno, li raggiunga la tua ira ardente.
26 for hounding someone you had already stricken, for redoubling the pain of one you had wounded.	26 La loro casa sia desolata, senza abitanti la loro tenda;
27 Charge them with crime after crime, exclude them from your saving justice,	27 perché inseguono colui che hai percosso, aggiungono dolore a chi tu hai ferito.
28 erase them from the book of life, do not enrol them among the upright.	28 Imputa loro colpa su colpa e non ottengano la tua giustizia.
29 For myself, wounded wretch that I am, by your saving power raise me up!	29 Siano cancellati dal libro dei viventi e tra i giusti non siano iscritti.
30 I wil praise God's name in song, I wil extol him by thanksgiving,	30 Io sono infelice e sofferente; la tua salvezza, Dio, mi ponga al sicuro.
31 for this wil please Yahweh more than an ox, than a bullock horned and hoofed.	31 Loderò il nome di Dio con il canto, lo esalterò con azioni di grazie,
32 The humble have seen and are glad. Let your courage revive, you who seek God.	32 che il Signore gradirà più dei tori, più dei giovenchi con corna e unghie.
33 For God listens to the poor, he has never scorned his captive people.	33 Vedano gli umili e si rallegrino; si ravvivi il cuore di chi cerca Dio,
34 Let heaven and earth and seas, and al that stirs in them, acclaim him!	34 poiché il Signore ascolta i poveri e non disprezza i suoi che sono prigionieri.
35 For God wil save Zion, and rebuild the cities of Judah, and people will live there on their own land;	35 A lui acclamino i cieli e la terra, i mari e quanto in essi si muove.
36 the descendants of his servants wil inherit it, and those who love his name wil dwell there.	36 Perché Dio salverà Sion, ricostruirà le città di Giuda: vi abiteranno e ne avranno il possesso.
	37 La stirpe dei suoi servi ne sarà erede, e chi ama il suo nome vi porrà dimora.
