1 [For the choirmaster Psalm Of David] In you, Yahweh, I have taken refuge, let me never be put toshame, in your saving justice deliver me, rescue me,	1 'Al maestro del coro. Salmo. Di Davide.'
2 turn your ear to me, make haste. Be for me a rock-fastness, a fortified citadel to save me.	2 In te, Signore, mi sono rifugiato, mai sarò deluso; per la tua giustizia salvami.
3 You are my rock, my rampart; true to your name, lead me and guide me!	3 Porgi a me l'orecchio, vieni presto a liberarmi. Sii per me la rupe che mi accoglie, la cinta di riparo che mi salva.
4 Draw me out of the net they have spread for me, for you are my refuge;	4 Tu sei la mia roccia e il mio baluardo, per il tuo nome dirigi i miei passi.
5 to your hands I commit my spirit, by you have I been redeemed. God of truth,	5 Scioglimi dal laccio che mi hanno teso, perché sei tu la mia difesa.
6 you hate those who serve useless idols; but my trust is in Yahweh:	6 Mi affido alle tue mani; tu mi riscatti, Signore, Dio fedele.
7 I will delight and rejoice in your faithful love! You, who have seen my misery, and witnessed themiseries of my soul,	7 Tu detesti chi serve idoli falsi, ma io ho fede nel Signore.
8 have not handed me over to the enemy, but have given me freedom to roam at large.	8 Esulterò di gioia per la tua grazia, perché hai guardato alla mia miseria, hai conosciuto le mie angosce;
9 Take pity on me, Yahweh, for I am in trouble. Vexation is gnawing away my eyes, my soul deep within me.	9 non mi hai consegnato nelle mani del nemico, hai guidato al largo i miei passi.
10 For my life is worn out with sorrow, and my years with sighs. My strength gives way under my misery,and my bones are al wasted away.	10 Abbi pietà di me, Signore, sono nell'affanno; per il pianto si struggono i miei occhi, la mia anima e le mie viscere.
11 The sheer number of my enemies makes me contemptible, loathsome to my neighbours, and myfriends shrink from me in horror. When people see me in the street they take to their heels.	11 Si consuma nel dolore la mia vita, i miei anni passano nel gemito; inaridisce per la pena il mio vigore, si dissolvono tutte le mie ossa.
12 I have no more place in their hearts than a corpse, or something lost.	12 Sono l'obbrobrio dei miei nemici, il disgusto dei miei vicini, l'orrore dei miei conoscenti; chi mi vede per strada mi sfugge.
13 Al I hear is slander -- terror wherever I turn -- as they plot together against me, scheming to take mylife.	13 Sono caduto in oblio come un morto, sono divenuto un rifiuto.
14 But my trust is in you, Yahweh; I say, 'You are my God,'	14 Se odo la calunnia di molti, il terrore mi circonda; quando insieme contro di me congiurano, tramano di togliermi la vita.
15 every moment of my life is in your hands, rescue me from the clutches of my foes who pursue me;	15 Ma io confido in te, Signore; dico: "Tu sei il mio Dio,
16 let your face shine on your servant, save me in your faithful love.	16 nelle tue mani sono i miei giorni". Liberami dalla mano dei miei nemici, dalla stretta dei miei persecutori:
17 I cal on you, Yahweh, so let disgrace fal not on me, but on the wicked. Let them go down to Sheol insilence,	17 fa' splendere il tuo volto sul tuo servo, salvami per la tua misericordia.
18 muzzles on their lying mouths, which speak arrogantly against the upright in pride and contempt.	18 Signore, ch'io non resti confuso, perché ti ho invocato; siano confusi gli empi, tacciano negli inferi.
19 Yahweh, what quantities of good things you have in store for those who fear you, and bestow onthose who make you their refuge, for al humanity to see.	19 Fa' tacere le labbra di menzogna, che dicono insolenze contro il giusto con orgoglio e disprezzo.
20 Safe in your presence you hide them, far from human plotting, shielding them in your tent, far fromcontentious tongues.	20 Quanto è grande la tua bontà, Signore! La riservi per coloro che ti temono, ne ricolmi chi in te si rifugia davanti agli occhi di tutti.
21 Blessed be Yahweh who works for me miracles of his faithful love (in a fortified city)!	21 Tu li nascondi al riparo del tuo volto, lontano dagli intrighi degli uomini; li metti al sicuro nella tua tenda, lontano dalla rissa delle lingue.
22 In a state of terror I cried, 'I have been cut off from your sight!' Yet you heard my plea for help when Icried out to you.	22 Benedetto il Signore, che ha fatto per me meraviglie di grazia in una fortezza inaccessibile.
23 Love Yahweh, al his faithful: Yahweh protects his loyal servants, but he repays the arrogant withinterest.	23 Io dicevo nel mio sgomento: "Sono escluso dalla tua presenza". Tu invece hai ascoltato la voce della mia preghiera quando a te gridavo aiuto.
24 Be brave, take heart, al who put your hope in Yahweh.	24 Amate il Signore, voi tutti suoi santi; il Signore protegge i suoi fedeli e ripaga oltre misura l'orgoglioso.
	25 Siate forti, riprendete coraggio, o voi tutti che sperate nel Signore.
