1 [For the choirmaster Of David Psalm] Yahweh, you examine me and know me,	1 'Al maestro del coro. Di Davide. Salmo.' Signore, tu mi scruti e mi conosci,
2 you know when I sit, when I rise, you understand my thoughts from afar.	2 tu sai quando seggo e quando mi alzo. Penetri da lontano i miei pensieri,
3 You watch when I walk or lie down, you know every detail of my conduct.	3 mi scruti quando cammino e quando riposo. Ti sono note tutte le mie vie;
4 A word is not yet on my tongue before you, Yahweh, know all about it.	4 la mia parola non è ancora sulla lingua e tu, Signore, già la conosci tutta.
5 You fence me in, behind and in front, you have laid your hand upon me.	5 Alle spalle e di fronte mi circondi e poni su di me la tua mano.
6 Such amazing knowledge is beyond me, a height to which I cannot attain.	6 Stupenda per me la tua saggezza, troppo alta, e io non la comprendo.
7 Where shall I go to escape your spirit? Where shall I flee from your presence?	7 Dove andare lontano dal tuo spirito, dove fuggire dalla tua presenza?
8 If I scale the heavens you are there, if I lie flat in Sheol, there you are.	8 Se salgo in cielo, là tu sei, se scendo negli inferi, eccoti.
9 If I speed away on the wings of the dawn, if I dwel beyond the ocean,	9 Se prendo le ali dell'aurora per abitare all'estremità del mare,
10 even there your hand will be guiding me, your right hand holding me fast.	10 anche là mi guida la tua mano e mi afferra la tua destra.
11 I will say, 'Let the darkness cover me, and the night wrap itself around me,'	11 Se dico: "Almeno l'oscurità mi copra e intorno a me sia la notte";
12 even darkness to you is not dark, and night is as clear as the day.	12 nemmeno le tenebre per te sono oscure, e la notte è chiara come il giorno; per te le tenebre sono come luce.
13 You created my inmost self, knit me together in my mother's womb.	13 Sei tu che hai creato le mie viscere e mi hai tessuto nel seno di mia madre.
14 For so many marvels I thank you; a wonder am I, and al your works are wonders. You knew methrough and through,	14 Ti lodo, perché mi hai fatto come un prodigio; sono stupende le tue opere, tu mi conosci fino in fondo.
15 my being held no secrets from you, when I was being formed in secret, textured in the depths of theearth.	15 Non ti erano nascoste le mie ossa quando venivo formato nel segreto, intessuto nelle profondità della terra.
16 Your eyes could see my embryo. In your book all my days were inscribed, every one that was fixedis there.	16 Ancora informe mi hanno visto i tuoi occhi e tutto era scritto nel tuo libro; i miei giorni erano fissati, quando ancora non ne esisteva uno.
17 How hard for me to grasp your thoughts, how many, God, there are!	17 Quanto profondi per me i tuoi pensieri, quanto grande il loro numero, o Dio;
18 If I count them, they are more than the grains of sand; if I come to an end, I am stil with you.	18 se li conto sono più della sabbia, se li credo finiti, con te sono ancora.
19 If only, God, you would kil the wicked!-Men of violence, keep away from me!-	19 Se Dio sopprimesse i peccatori! Allontanatevi da me, uomini sanguinari.
20 those who speak blasphemously about you, and take no account of your thoughts.	20 Essi parlano contro di te con inganno: contro di te insorgono con frode.
21 Yahweh, do I not hate those who hate you, and loathe those who defy you?	21 Non odio, forse, Signore, quelli che ti odiano e non detesto i tuoi nemici?
22 My hate for them has no limits, I regard them as my own enemies.	22 Li detesto con odio implacabile come se fossero miei nemici.
23 God, examine me and know my heart, test me and know my concerns.	23 Scrutami, Dio, e conosci il mio cuore, provami e conosci i miei pensieri:
24 Make sure that I am not on my way to ruin, and guide me on the road of eternity.	24 vedi se percorro una via di menzogna e guidami sulla via della vita.
