NEW JERUSALEMBIBBIA
1 [Prayer of someone afflicted, who in misfortune pours out sorrows before Yahweh] Yahweh, hear myprayer, let my cry for help reach you.1 'Preghiera di un afflitto che è stanco'
'e sfoga dinanzi a Dio la sua angoscia'.
2 Do not turn away your face from me when I am in trouble; bend down and listen to me, when I cal ,be quick to answer me!2 Signore, ascolta la mia preghiera,
a te giunga il mio grido.
3 For my days are vanishing like smoke, my bones burning like an oven;3 Non nascondermi il tuo volto;
nel giorno della mia angoscia
piega verso di me l'orecchio.
Quando ti invoco: presto, rispondimi.

4 like grass struck by blight, my heart is withering, I forget to eat my meals.4 Si dissolvono in fumo i miei giorni
e come brace ardono le mie ossa.
5 From the effort of voicing my groans my bones stick out through my skin.5 Il mio cuore abbattuto come erba inaridisce,
dimentico di mangiare il mio pane.
6 I am like a desert-owl in the wastes, a screech-owl among ruins,6 Per il lungo mio gemere
aderisce la mia pelle alle mie ossa.

7 I keep vigil and moan like a lone bird on a roof.7 Sono simile al pellicano del deserto,
sono come un gufo tra le rovine.
8 Al day long my enemies taunt me, those who once praised me now use me as a curse.8 Veglio e gemo
come uccello solitario sopra un tetto.
9 Ashes are the food that I eat, my drink is mingled with tears,9 Tutto il giorno mi insultano i miei nemici,
furenti imprecano contro il mio nome.
10 because of your fury and anger, since you have raised me up only to cast me away;10 Di cenere mi nutro come di pane,
alla mia bevanda mescolo il pianto,
11 my days are like a fading shadow, I am withering up like grass.11 davanti alla tua collera e al tuo sdegno,
perché mi sollevi e mi scagli lontano.
12 But you, Yahweh, are enthroned for ever, each generation in turn remembers you.12 I miei giorni sono come ombra che declina,
e io come erba inaridisco.

13 Rise up, take pity on Zion! the time has come to have mercy on her, the moment has come;13 Ma tu, Signore, rimani in eterno,
il tuo ricordo per ogni generazione.
14 for your servants love her very stones, are moved to pity by her dust.14 Tu sorgerai, avrai pietà di Sion,
perché è tempo di usarle misericordia:
l'ora è giunta.
15 Then wil the nations revere the name of Yahweh, and al the kings of the earth your glory;15 Poiché ai tuoi servi sono care le sue pietre
e li muove a pietà la sua rovina.

16 when Yahweh builds Zion anew, he will be seen in his glory;16 I popoli temeranno il nome del Signore
e tutti i re della terra la tua gloria,
17 he wil turn to hear the prayer of the destitute, and wil not treat their prayer with scorn.17 quando il Signore avrà ricostruito Sion
e sarà apparso in tutto il suo splendore.
18 This shall be put on record for a future generation, and a people yet to be born shal praise God:18 Egli si volge alla preghiera del misero
e non disprezza la sua supplica.

19 Yahweh has leaned down from the heights of his sanctuary, has looked down from heaven to earth,19 Questo si scriva per la generazione futura
e un popolo nuovo darà lode al Signore.
20 to listen to the sighing of the captive, and set free those condemned to death,20 Il Signore si è affacciato dall'alto del suo santuario,
dal cielo ha guardato la terra,
21 to proclaim the name of Yahweh in Zion, his praise in Jerusalem;21 per ascoltare il gemito del prigioniero,
per liberare i condannati a morte;
22 nations wil gather together, and kingdoms to worship Yahweh.22 perché sia annunziato in Sion il nome del Signore
e la sua lode in Gerusalemme,
23 In my journeying my strength has failed on the way;23 quando si aduneranno insieme i popoli
e i regni per servire il Signore.

24 let me know the short time I have left. Do not take me away before half my days are done, for youryears run on from age to age.24 Ha fiaccato per via la mia forza,
ha abbreviato i miei giorni.
25 Long ago you laid earth's foundations, the heavens are the work of your hands.25 Io dico: Mio Dio,
non rapirmi a metà dei miei giorni;
i tuoi anni durano per ogni generazione.
26 They pass away but you remain; they al wear out like a garment, like outworn clothes you changethem;26 In principio tu hai fondato la terra,
i cieli sono opera delle tue mani.
27 but you never alter, and your years never end.27 Essi periranno, ma tu rimani,
tutti si logorano come veste,
come un abito tu li muterai
ed essi passeranno.

28 The children of those who serve you wil dwel secure, and their descendants live on in yourpresence.28 Ma tu resti lo stesso
e i tuoi anni non hanno fine.
29 I figli dei tuoi servi avranno una dimora,
resterà salda davanti a te la loro discendenza.
