NEW JERUSALEMBIBBIA
When the seventh month came after the Israelites had been resettled in their towns, the peoplegathered as one person in Jerusalem.1 Giunse il settimo mese e gli Israeliti si erano ormai insediati nelle loro città.
Il popolo si radunò come un solo uomo a Gerusalemme.
Then Jeshua son of Jozadak, with his brother priests, and Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, with his brothers, set about rebuilding the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings on it as prescribed in the Law of Mosesman of God.2 Allora Giosuè figlio di Iozadàk con i fratelli, i sacerdoti, e Zorobabele figlio di Sealtiel con i suoi fratelli, si misero al lavoro per ricostruire l'altare del Dio d'Israele, per offrirvi olocausti, come è scritto nella legge di Mosè uomo di Dio.
They erected the altar on its old site, despite their fear of the people of the country, and on it theypresented burnt offerings to Yahweh, burnt offerings morning and evening;3 Ristabilirono l'altare al suo posto, pur angustiati dal timore delle popolazioni locali, e vi offrirono sopra olocausti al Signore, gli olocausti del mattino e della sera.
they celebrated the feast of Shelters as prescribed, offering daily the number of burnt offerings requiredfrom day to day,4 Celebrarono la festa delle capanne secondo il rituale e offrirono olocausti quotidiani nel numero stabilito dal regolamento per ogni giorno.
and in addition presented the continual burnt offerings prescribed for the Sabbaths, for the New Moonsand for al the festivals sacred to Yahweh, as well as those voluntary offerings made by individuals to Yahweh.5 In seguito continuarono ad offrire l'olocausto perenne e i sacrifici dei giorni di novilunio e di tutte le solennità consacrate al Signore, più tutte le offerte volontarie al Signore.
From the first day of the seventh month they began presenting burnt offerings to Yahweh, though thefoundations of the Temple of Yahweh had not yet been laid.6 Cominciarono a offrire olocausti al Signore dal primo giorno del mese settimo, benché del suo tempio non fossero ancora poste le fondamenta.

They also contributed money for the masons and carpenters, and food, drink and oil for the Sidoniansand Tyrians for bringing cedar wood from Lebanon by sea to Jaffa, for which Cyrus king of Persia had givenpermission.7 Allora diedero denaro ai tagliapietre e ai falegnami; e alimenti, bevande e olio alla gente di Sidòne e di Tiro, perché trasportassero il legname di cedro dal Libano per mare fino a Giaffa: ciò secondo la concessione loro fatta da Ciro re di Persia.
It was in the second month of the second year after their arrival at the Temple of God in Jerusalem thatZerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Jeshua son of Jozadak, with the rest of their brothers, the priests, the Levitesand all the people who had returned to Jerusalem from captivity, began the work by appointing some of theLevites who were twenty years old or more to superintend the work on the Temple of Yahweh.8 Nel secondo anno dal loro arrivo al tempio di Dio in Gerusalemme, nel secondo mese, diedero inizio ai lavori Zorobabele figlio di Sealtiel, e Giosuè figlio di Iozadàk, con gli altri fratelli sacerdoti e leviti e quanti erano tornati dall'esilio a Gerusalemme. Essi incaricarono i leviti dai vent'anni in su di dirigere i lavori del tempio.
The Levites, Jeshua, his sons and his brothers, with Kadmiel, Binnui and his sons, the sons ofHodaviah, agreed to superintend the men working on the Temple of God.9 Giosuè, i suoi figli e i suoi fratelli, Kadmiel, Binnui e Odavia si misero come un solo uomo a dirigere i lavoratori dell'impresa riguardante il tempio. Così pure i figli di Chenadàd con i loro figli e fratelli, leviti.
When the builders had laid the foundations of the Temple of Yahweh, the priests in their robes stoodforward with trumpets, and the Levites, the sons of Asaph, with cymbals, to praise Yahweh according to theordinances of David king of Israel.10 Quando i costruttori ebbero gettato le fondamenta del tempio, invitarono a presenziare i sacerdoti con i loro paramenti e le trombe e i leviti, figli di Asaf, con i cembali per lodare il Signore con i canti di Davide re d'Israele.
They chanted praise and thanksgiving to Yahweh because for Israel, they said, 'he is good, andeverlasting in his faithful love.' Then al the people raised a mighty shout of praise to Yahweh, since thefoundations of the Temple of Yahweh had now been laid.11 Essi cantavano a cori alterni lodi e ringraziamenti al Signore 'perché è buono, perché la sua grazia dura sempre' verso Israele. Tutto il popolo faceva risuonare il grido della grande acclamazione, lodando così il Signore perché erano state gettate le fondamenta del tempio.
Many of the older priests, Levites and heads of families, who had seen the first temple, wept veryloudly when the foundations of this one were laid before their eyes, but many others shouted aloud for joy,12 Tuttavia molti tra i sacerdoti e i leviti e i capifamiglia anziani, che avevano visto il tempio di prima, mentre si gettavano le nuove fondamenta di questo tempio sotto i loro occhi piangevano ad alta voce, ma i più continuavano ad alzare la voce con il grido dell'acclamazione e della gioia.
so that nobody could distinguish the noise of the joyful shout from the noise of the people's weeping;for the people shouted so loudly that the noise could be heard far away.13 Così non si poteva distinguere il grido dell'acclamazione di gioia dal grido del pianto del popolo, perché il popolo faceva echeggiare la grande acclamazione e la voce si sentiva lontano.
